COMMON HOUSE COMMUNITY

 Expressionist Cohousing Community provides a dynamic living environment for all ages in an inclusive community. Sensory exploration through the arts is encouraged to enable self-expression of each cohouse resident.  

This community works to reduce social isolation and enhances the well-being of everyone.

Space planning was determined based on frequency of use and accessibility. The kitchen and lounge are located on the first level and opens to the outdoors. The theater is a main point of focus and utilizes a two-story space with a balcony. The fine art studio is located above the entrance with easy access.

Art sculptures throughout the community is used as a means of wayfinding. Art pieces move residents between rooms and levels. They also serve as friendly reminders of the function of the room. This type of wayfinding provides simple and intuitive use for every resident no matter age or ability.
