Introduction, assimilation and recognition. Represented through the process of salt dissolving and restructuring as many different parts are merged together and restructured as an orderly, complex structure in a concentric configuration.

Designed and experienced within the constraints of scarcity mindset and loss aversion. Understanding the cognitive load immigrants carry to better understand their behaviors and actions.

Designed and experienced within the constraints of “identifiable victim effect.” A direct dialogue between visitor and an identifiable individual will evoke deeper connections, emotions and empathy.

Designed and experienced with an emphasis on overconfidence and reciprocity. Visitors can reflect on their beliefs and implicit biases. Understanding the way immigrants form, shape and influence western culture, visitors will have a greater desire to help and learn from them.

Concentric Narrative

The narrative of the exhibition is structured on a central endpoint. As visitors experience various supporting parts of the story, the central idea can be accessed from multiple threads of the storyline. Visitors will experience the exhibition with different starting points, curated tales and content, but the narrative trajectory is consistently structured around and conforms to a main central idea with three supporting hubs. This narrative provides opportunity to regularly reflect back on the story with a new perspective and addresses the fluidity and transmutation to identity and culture.

The lattice structure confines to the grid and functions as FF+E towards the top as it pierces through the masses. Precipitating down the building, the lattice forms into vertical circulation and finally at the bottom forming enclosures and nooks, defining new ways to experience the exhibition. Visitors circulate downwards through the exhibition - only fully experiencing the lattice at the bottom - as they move through the masses and experience areas of stability and instability.
